Protection from solar radiation has become a conscious effort in these countries; in order to reduce the incidence of skin cancer, as well, as for comfort. This consciousness is becoming a focus in the U.S., also. Many of the fabrics used in tension/shade structures have been in use for over 15 years without fading, fraying or UV degradation. Fabrics will block up to 95% of the harmful Ultra Violet radiation, while allowing approximately 20% of the light to pass through for illumination and plant photosynthesis where required.
